Who runs it
We are one independent developer who wanted the odds before shipping and built the crawl, the formulas and this site to read them out.
What it costs
Nothing. The site is free for developers and paid for by sponsors, who buy text placements on the pages their products fit. Rates and rules are on the sponsor page.
Sponsors never affect verdicts or numbers. A sponsored line is marked Sponsor every time it appears.
What the numbers are not
Money figures are estimates: review count × 30 for copies, × today's US list price for revenue, one entry per developer, released games under $70 only. They are not sales, not net income and not a forecast for any one game. Full method, errors and changes on the Method page.
Do I Ship It? is an independent site. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation, used here to name the platform the data describes. Valve has not reviewed, endorsed or contributed to anything on this site. Capsule images belong to their publishers and are shown at thumbnail size to identify the games; see the take-down path below.
Take-down
If you own a game shown here and want its capsule image removed, or a figure corrected, email asolokh@gmail.com with the Steam app id and what to change. Capsule removals are done within 7 days without argument. Figure corrections are not done by hand: if a review count or price is wrong on Steam it is wrong here until Steam fixes it, and if the estimate is wrong the Method page says why; we do not edit individual games.
Privacy
Your address goes to Buttondown, which sends the letter, and nowhere else. Every issue has an unsubscribe link. No tracking beyond the open count Buttondown keeps.
The site uses PostHog for page analytics with IP addresses truncated and no cross-site cookies. Counters ("I'm building this") store a salted hash of your IP for one day to stop double counting, then drop it.
The prose
Verdict paragraphs and block sentences are generated from the numbers by fixed templates, and, where a page says so, edited by hand. No prose on this site is written by a language model at launch; if that changes, the Method changelog says when and where.
